Britain is boosting the amount of humanitarian aid it gives to Yemen. The international development secretary Priti Patel has told the BBC the government will spend an extra £37m this year to help the millions of people suffering as a result of civil war.
A Saudi-led coalition backed by Britain and the US has carried out a bombing campaign against the rebels who overthrew the government 18 months ago. A naval and aerial blockade by the Saudi coalition, which controls all goods and aid coming into the country, has led to further shortages of food, fuel and medicine.
