Mosul battle: Iraqi forces edge into city – BBC News


Two years after the humiliation of being driven out by so-called Islamic State the first Iraqi forces have re-entered Mosul. Tonight they are within the city limits. The assault – now in its third week – involves hundreds of troops in heavily-armoured vehicles, together with tanks and bulldozers. More than a million civilians are thought to be trapped inside the city. A team of Iraqi special forces have retaken control of the symbolic state TV building. Our correspondent Ian Pannell and cameraman Darren Conway are the first Western broadcast team to enter the city.They have sent this report from the Mosul suburb of Gogjali
